Are you sure you know what 3D printing is?
Have you ever heard about 3D printing? If your answer to this question is yes, or if you have never heard about this innovation in the printing industry before, and you are curious to find out what does it refer to, you should continue reading this article.
Even though some of you have never known about 3D printing before, you should know that this method has been around since the `70s. Back then the printing machines were enormous compared to the ones that are used today, and these could not produce a large variety of items.
However, nowadays objects created by the use of this innovative process are used in almost any field, such as Aerospace, Military, Medical, and most of them are produced for the Automotive Industry, or sold as Consumer Products.
When it comes to the process through which these items are created, it all starts with a computer aided design, or with a 3D scanner. The first process involves a computer engineer who creates a model of the object that will be printed by using a specially designed software. On the other hand, the 3D scanner involves a laser which glides around the surface of the item, and transferring the recorded data to a computer which creates the 3D model.
After the model of the object that is going to be printed, is created, it is transferred to the actual printing machine also through a computer. The printer then analyses the data received, and starts creating the item by using a layer by layer technique. This way, the item is created by overlapping numerous layers of material, which hardens and together form the final result.
This printing technique, even though it is relatively new, is available even in areas such as Alaska, Anchorage, Barrow, Bethel, Fairbanks, Kenai, Seward, and Soldotna, so if you need such printing services just do a little research on the internet, and you will find what you need in no time.
